Latest news from the Mission Outreach Committee
At its last meeting on Sunday, January 13th, the committee set the timetable for actions to disburse the remaining Trauger bequest funds. It considered the draft application form and cover letter that will be sent to community organizations notifying them of the opportunity to apply for a grant from those funds. The grants will be made only for new projects or significant expansion of old projects, not for normal expenses of the organization. Projects that particularly benefit children, families, or the community are encouraged. The timeline for the next steps: By the end of January, develop a list of organizations to which the letter should be sent. Parishioners are invited to make suggestions for organizations that should be included on the list. The committee will approve a final version of the letter and application form at its February meeting, Monday, February 11, at 5:30 p.m. The letters will be sent out by the end of February with a deadline for applications of April 30, 2013. The committee expects to consider the applications and make recommendations for the parish’s discussion and vote by June 15th.
