Come celebrate Switzerland
Chocolate lovers: This is your chance. When St. Margaret’s Global Cuisine enthusiasts gather next Saturday night, Feb. 9, for a supper of Swiss favorites, you may find a table full of chocolate delights. Or you may want to create one yourself.
No nation knows chocolate like Switzerland. “The Swiss eat the most chocolate of any country in the world according to the Association of Swiss Chocolate Manufacturers,” reports USAToday. “The country’s chocolate is a delicacy that comes in many flavors and styles including solid dark, milk, or with fillings in the middle such as fruit, jelly, cream or honey.”
Frommers.com calls Switzerland “the largest chocolate superpower in the world” and claims the Swiss “eat and drink more chocolate per capita than any other nation.” Swiss factories even maintain “chocolate breaks” to give their workers bursts of energy. “Swiss housewives usually don’t buy less than a kilo of chocolate at a time,” according to Frommers, the well known travel guide.
Why not find yourself a great chocolate dessert on the www.food.com/recipes/swiss-chocolate website and bring it to the potluck? Dinner is at 6. Please arrive a bit earlier if your dish needs to be reheated or assembled. Remember to bring your own beverages. And, as always, non-cooks are welcome, too. You may help us clean up.
