Saturday’s Knit-a-thon was a huge success! Eighteen people age five to ninety gathered in the church library throughout the day. Stories and food were shared to the tune of spinning wheels and clicking needles. Despite the steady snowfall, members of the community joined with women of St. Margaret’s, children, and Belfast Area High School students. Sandy Gregory’s yarn stash brought in several donations and happy customers. A big thanks to Joan Whitlock for providing smoked turkey sandwiches on her 60th wedding anniversary, to Chris Urick for her creative publicity, and to Keith Dunson for making our church clean and beautiful. So far, the event has raised over $400 for GBAM’s Interfaith Fuel Fund.
We are hoping to make the Knit-a-thon a bi-annual event with a tentative fundraiser planned for November .
