News from Mission Outreach
The Mission Outreach Committee met on Monday, July 8th, and had a wide-ranging discussion about Toxic Charity by Robert D. Lupton and how the author’s premise is relevant-or not-to our personal giving, as well as to the church’s donations of funds and volunteer time. We hope that the parish as a whole will be engaged in this conversation in the fall. We also discussed the UN’s Millennium Development Goals and how they might be applied when the committee is making decisions about how the funds entrusted to us by the parish should be spent.
The Window Dressers program has gotten off to a good start at St. Margaret’s with about nine parishioners expressing interest in buying the energy-efficient inside storm windows and many others volunteering to help with the window assembly in November.
Trauger grant recipients have been notified. We are awaiting letters from them agreeing to the terms specific to each grantee.
The committee voted to have St. Margaret’s participate again this year in the Walk for MS. Mark your calendars now for Saturday, September 28th. More details soon.
The next meeting of the committee will be Monday, August 12th, at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome.
