Folk Mass was special
Last Sunday’s 10:15 service (Aug 10) was special. The church was full to almost overflowing, the Rev. John Ineson was there with his 12-string guitar, the leaflet was user-friendly with the entire service in print, and the weather was a perfect Maine summer day. Opening with “Morning has broken” and continuing through the service there was a feeling of absolute joy throughout the church.
As John responded to a parishioner email of thanks …”There are moments at events like that when the real meaning and purpose of church are manifest — something in the sheer joy and delight, the divine Lila, a playfulness that in its very absurdity balances the absurdities of life, an antidote to the serious mess that humans’ ongoing, innate and inveterate tribalism has created. The proof is that we all felt better when we ended than when we began. The One that is in us is greater than the one that is in the world (I John 4:4). Today we spent an hour and three quarters with that One.”
DVDs of the service are available for $5 – to order one, please contact the church office. Also, it will be aired on BCTV (channel 2) on:
