GLOBAL CUISINE NEWS
What a feast! Seven men from the ReEntry Center joined us for our potluck last Saturday and helped us finish off almost all of 12 different dishes and five unusual beverages! We dined on tandoori chicken, spicy, sautéed cauliflower, saag paneer, Punjabi chicken in heavy gravy, Indian brussels sprouts, vegetable paini, lamb stew with potatoes, curried cauliflower and channa dal, and three different rice preparations. We drank strawberry lassies, lemonades with cucumber and mint and weird drinks made from almonds and poppy seeds and pureed beets.
Next month our global Cuisine potluck will features foods popular in Myanmar (once Burma); Chris and Dennis Urick spent much of December there and they will provide a slide show during our supper. Some recipes will appear on the time and talent table soon, but try this website for good ideas: http://migrationology.com/2011/05/burmese-cuisine-food-bite-of-burma/ and read “Twenty Scrumptious Burmese Foods.”
The date of the potluck is Saturday, Feb. 14th. Bring your Valentine and bring a dish to share, Burmese or not, it really doesn’t matter. Stay tuned.
