The Belfast Free Library has a special exhibit honoring Maud Gammans to coincide with St. Margaret’s Centennial celebration. The display in the Gammans Reading Room at the library includes letters , postcards and other mementos from her extensive travels. Also in the showcase is one of her books with her personal bookplate that Chris Urick adapted for the bookplates we put into more than 100 books for local schools this spring.
Senator Susan Collins has just sent us a copy of “Blueberries for Sal” to keep the book project for schools going. A copy of her letter congratulating St. Margaret’s on its 100th anniversary is posted on the bulletin board in the Parish House, along with a congratulatory message from President Obama and a formal resolution from the Maine Legislature in honor of the centennial.
Reprints of the three e-letters Tom McCord wrote about St. Margaret’s history, “Looking Back – A Journey in Faith,” will be available on the table by the door to the church on Sunday. Tom did an outstanding job pulling this information together.
