January potluck returns to India !
Next month, for the fourth time in five years, St. Margaret’s enterprising cooks will be preparing an exotic buffet of Indian curries and kebabs, rice, raitas, puddings and paneers. The date is Jan. 9th, 6 p.m.
It was January 2011, during our second year of global cuisine potlucks, that we first attempted Indian food. We covered two long tables with food and welcomed more parishioners to that dinner than any other we have hosted. Let’s do it again.
Try this website — http://www.indianfoodforever.com/regional-cooking.html — to find descriptions of dishes from a dozen of India’s regional cuisines. Choose Bengali, Punjabi or Rajasthani recipes… or perhaps a Goan or Gujarati dish. Or, if you are not feeling adventurous, bring a big pot of rice or a bowl of yoghurt or a few sliced mangoes or a pineapple. All foods are welcome and all diners are, too, including those who would rather help clean up than cook.
