Vestry Highlights – May 2016
The Vestry met on Tuesday, May 2, and took the following actions:
In response to a request from the acting treasurer, approved purchase of an external hard drive for the computer on which parish financial data is stored.
Learned that our financial records are in order and that Georgie Thomas has agreed to be the treasurer of St. Margaret’s beginning in June.
Approved the schedule laid out by Tom McCord, chair of the Budget and Finance committee, for the Daring Faith Initiative. Announcements will be made at all services on May 15, 22, and 29, and Tom will be available at coffee hour all three Sundays to answer questions.
Received a draft proposed grant application form from Susan Mayer, head of the Outreach Committee. The form would be used by organizations applying for financial assistance from St. Margaret’s.
Heard a report from Larry Theye, chair of Buildings and Grounds, regarding various maintenance projects including completion of chimney work and replacement of floor inside the back door of the parish house. On-going issues involve water drainage at the back of the parish house, the condition of the lawn, and cleaning of the library and upstairs meeting room.
Received the rector’s report. Among other items, Christopher+ stated that he and Cindy Frost will make a presentation about the Pastoral Care forms at coffee hour on May 29. Christopher+ has also recently joined the board of Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County.
After a report by Senior Warden Pat Griffith, agreed that a decision regarding construction of a labyrinth could be postponed until it might be considered as a Daring Faith proposal.
The next meeting of the Vestry is Tuesday, June 7.
