God Loves a Cheerful Giver
It’s hard to keep track of all the work of God surrounding us!
Recently Margie Spencer-Smith, Ed and Pam Williams, Marion Fletcher, and others did significant work on our parish grounds. Thank you, all!
The Strawberry Shortcake Fundraiser is one of the ways St. Margaret’s is known in our larger community. It was successful, even with significant rain at Arts in the Park. The proceeds were donated to the Re-Entry Center, which does incredible work described below.
Thank you to all who participated: Judith Cox, Mary Rackmales, Cynthia Zajac, Chris Urick, Betty Becker-Theye, Georgie Thomas, Dennis Urick, Larry Theye, Judy Johnson, Tom Duplessie, Sandy Gregory, Rebecca Lewis, Pat Griffith, Charlotte Herbold, Barbara Plummer, Susie Kraeger, John Cuozzo, Mary Provo, and Men from Re-Entry Center.
We have additional ministry needs. Please consider joining Eucharist Visitor ministry, which could involve one visit a month or a few visits per week depending on your schedule. I will lead a training of less than an hour, you’ll complete the Safe Church Training online, and you will be accompanied on your first visit. It’s important to make the sacraments available to our parishioners who are unable to attend church. This is one of the ways the Lord’s Table is extended from the Eucharist we share together at the Wednesday Healing Service and Eucharist and the Sunday Eucharist.
We need more Chalice Bearers at Sunday Eucharist. This involves a brief training and licensing by the diocese (I will process the paperwork.).
St. Margaret’s connection with the Re-Entry Center continues. The men involved in this program – currently the only one in the State of Maine – are in the final months of their jail sentence and getting integrated back into the community. They attend our Global Cuisine Potlucks, evenings with pizza and board games, and some volunteer with us or attend liturgy. Please contact Chris Urick or me if you have a heart for this important ministry.
The point is this: the one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. ~ 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
