Vestry Highlights – September meeting
The Vestry met on Tuesday, September 13, and took the following actions:
Approved the recommendation of the Outreach Committee to allocate funds to the followings: $300 to the GBAM Food Cupboard; $2500 to the Game Loft for the ENCOUNTERS program; $1000 for The Center for Wisdom’s Women in Lewiston, which supports s women struggling with abuse, health issues, isolation, inadequate nutrition, and hygiene; $400 to Episcopal Relief and Development.
Heard a report from Larry Theye on building and grounds. Gutters have been installed on the back of the parish hall. We are soliciting bids for painting the eaves.
Accepted the Treasurer’s report of the parish’s financial activities through August 31, 2016. Because of individual pledgers’ unexpected circumstances, a shortfall of $7,000 in total pledge income for 2016 is expected.
Heard Christopher’s+ report on his activities, including his participation in the Encounters weekend at Camp Bishopswood (described in detail by Ray Estabrook), his work as a member of the board of Hospice Volunteers of Waldo County (among other things, he will attend a planned giving conference on September 28 that should be useful as well for St. Margaret’s), and anticipated changes to his office hours. On Christian education, we are seeking a parishioner to work with Sue Garrett on setting up the Godly Play program for children. Christopher+ stated that Blessing of the Animals will take place on October 2.
