Short term opportunity to help
Do you enjoy nurturing volunteers with food? Would you be interested in a short-term volunteer opportunity yourself? The Belfast Window Dressers committee is looking for one or two people to organize food for our “community build” at the Belfast Boathouse October 19 through early November. The job involves soliciting donations from restaurants and stores (lists available from past years), acquiring supplies like paper goods and coffee supplies, and organizing set up and clean up each day at the Boathouse. Several people have already volunteered to supervise a lunch or two. The two local women who have coordinated food over the last several years are ready to advise and nurture their replacements.
Food is a really important part of supporting our volunteers and this should be a fun job! Please contact Corliss Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org for further details.
Measuring teams have been at work across Waldo County all summer measuring houses, trailers, and apartments for energy-saving window inserts. Window Dressers has been doing this across the state for more than 6 years and made over 6,100 inserts with volunteer labor in 2016. In five years, we’ve made nearly 2400 inserts here at the Belfast build alone!
Window dressers inserts make your home more comfortable, save money on heating costs, and help reduce CO2 emissions. Working together with your fellow customers and friends is also fun! Costs are kept low by volunteer labor and 22% of inserts are given for a small donation to those who couldn’t otherwise afford them.
